Tactics

What lives here. The things that are very much in front of everybody right now and the next key deliverables behind each one. The live operational front of this site.

How it differs from other sections.

  • Strategy Updates are backward-looking — Erik's periodic written notes after the fact.
  • Product Roadmap is quarterly / annual — the planned arc.
  • Tactics is this week and the next few weeks — what we owe, to whom, by when, and what the next step is.

What goes here

A tactic earns a page on this section when it has all four:

  1. A clear deliverable — a meeting, a demo, a ship, a customer commitment.
  2. A near-term date — this week, next week, this month.
  3. A named owner — someone whose job it is to land it.
  4. A specific next step — what gets done in the next 24–72 hours to advance it.

If a tactic is missing one of the four, it's not yet a tactic — it's a wish, a vague intention, or a roadmap item. Put it where it actually belongs.

How tactics retire

When a tactic lands (or visibly slips), it moves out of Tactics:

  • Landed cleanly? → document what happened in Strategy Updates (or just close the page) and remove from Tactics.
  • Slipped or paused? → either re-scope and keep it here with the new date, or move to the roadmap if it became a longer arc.
  • Killed? → archive with a short post-mortem note — what we learned.

Tactics should always feel current. If a tactic has been sitting here unchanged for three weeks, something's wrong — either the work isn't moving or the page is stale.

This list grows as we add tactics. The table is the at-a-glance; each row links to its own page with the detail.

Tactics is intentionally lightweight. No story points, no estimation theater — just “what's the next thing to do, who's doing it, when does it land.” If it gets heavier than that, it's outgrown this section.
